The Anger to Zen Project
This is a space where all who are suffering through some life trauma can come and take solace, one letter or step at a time… and then laugh at the absurdity of it all.
Project 1: Unemployment, from Anger to Zen
Explore the emotions we all face after we first realize that our income, our lifeline is about to disappear. That reality forces us to bypass the denial stage of grief… and then quickly jump into anger. Yet the other difficult stages that psychologists say we must go through before we reach “acceptance” cannot be so easily avoided. Our offer is this: instead of spending a lot of money on counselors and therapists, come to this site first. After all, its free! And as it prepares you for what lies ahead, you may even find yourself ingesting an occasional dose of humor. So come daily and tell your friends. The price is right and the rewards could be, well, maybe nothing… but if you decide to share your stories or your art, I believe you will feel good just by contributing to the healing of others. (Easiest access to all the Unemployment postings is through the Index.)
Project 2: Understanding, in 15 Steps or less
We are now exploring the concept called “Understanding.” A conservative friend laughingly tells me this is such a typical liberal pursuit, not anything that will actually make the world safer. I hope he in his single-minded attachment to libertarianism (“the thinking man’s conservatism”) is wrong. What do you think? (Easiest access to all the Understanding postings is through its own Index.)
Project X: After Understanding
If you have any suggestions for future explorations, feel free to leave a message on this page while we are working behind the scenes to make this site a memorable home for many.
Special note to artists:
If any of the daily blurbs inspire you to sketch your interpretation of what the concept of the post feels like, please submit it to me. All art that is accepted will be posted on the site and credit will be given… and hopefully will be interesting to publishers down the road.
Your fellow traveller,
S. A. Kaczmarek

I have felt every letter so far and gone through the alphabet multiple times. I have a BA from the University of Illinois and an MA from Cornell University. I have been in sales or business development in the construction and building prodcucts industry for almost 15 years. I’ve been laid off twice in the last year. We bought our house and a few investment properties in the Tampa area right at the bubble’s bursting point. We foreclosed on the investment props and our savings is gone. The worst of it is, I am in that dreaded age group for being re-employed … 45-55. Most people my age have their “stuff” together and their kids leaving home. I have no job, no prospects, and 3 small children (11, 9 & 3) to take care of. My wife is also a professional who has been a stay at home mom for the last 5 years. She, too, is in the market for employment. Now that our 3 children are in school we are each hoping to find positions that will, combined, replace my previous income. We remain positive most of the time and “just keep peddling”! Thanks for the forum to vent!
